Radio Silence

No....I wasn't in the hospital, or in jail, or dead. The absence of posts this last week was due to a general lack of inspiration combined with being busy with work and stuff. When I get busy at work, the longer hours spent there cut into the time I have to sit and think of junk to write about. Not to mention that I'm usually brain-dead when I do get home and that really puts the kibosh on any type of creative thinking.
Last week was Dale's birthday, which we celebrated by going to the movies--we saw Milk. Totally awesome. Not only was Sean Penn spectacular, but I hadn't known another of my favorite actors, James Franco, was also in the film.
Thursday night I spent baking a cake--German chocolate--and finally finishing the tomato soup I started on Sunday when I roasted the tomatoes. I was worried I wasn't going to get to finish with the soup.  But I did and it was so yummy and worth waiting for.
Friday we had a little party to celebrate both Dale and his daughter's birthdays--pizza, cake and polka dancing with his 2 month old grandson. Gotta start 'em young!

I spent the weekend preparing for my upcoming trip to Milwaukee. The weather forecast does not look too promising for Wednesday and Thursday, with highs predicted in the 30's....brrrrr! Luckily, I have some cold weather clothes, so no worries there, except for their lack of style. It is the shoe situation that is giving me a problem. I don't have the same shoe dilemma as fellow blogger GoldenRail, since I have only one pair of shoes to chose from, but they are clogs, so I'm worried my poor little feet are going to be cold. I do have UGGS, but I'm not looking forward to the derision the Milwaukee people heap on us UGG-wearing Coasties.

I'll be co-hosting a bridal shower for my older niece while I'm there. My task is food preparation, so I'll have a few days to do that before the party on Saturday. I'm really looking forward to seeing friends and family and having a great time visiting with everyone. Hopefully I will have time to go to a fish fry and get to Leon's as well. Not too sure I'll be able to post while I'm gone, but I'll try.

Glad you're still alive! *smiles* I SO know how too much work can get in the way of writing/creativity. I can relate! :)

Happy Belated Birthday to Dale...and enjoy your time back here in the Midwest--even though it's supposed to be chilly! I expect to have some great Wisconsin stories when you come back. *smiles*

Yay for teaching polka to the baby! Happy belated to Dale. Have a great time in Mil-town and get an extra scoop of custard for me if you make it to Leon's.
You could always have someone meet you at the airport with a cheap pair of real boots.
P.S. Thanks for the link ;)

MHP--If I don't freeze to death first, I'll hopefully have some good stuff to write about!
GR--My dad usually has a blanket for me in the car! =) Maybe I can borrow a coat from my sister too.

Glad to know you're alive and well and soon coming back to visit Milwaukee. If it's any consolation, it's supposed to be in the mid-40's on Saturday. ;) - I'll be heading 'north' to Cedarburg-Grafton Friday and Saturday...hope it's not colder in the north. ;)
I could meet you at the airport with warmer shoes, but I'd have to hold up a sign "MaryRuth" so you'd know who to look for.

Jeannie--thanks! How about mittens and hat too? =)
I think there is a flood in Cedarburg..be careful!

Let me know when you come into your Comfort Restaurant!
I just hope it will also be dog friendly.

It will be a nice weekend, especially Sunday (the St. Pat's parade in Madison), but if you're coming in on Wednesday, you are getting one of the coldest days we've had in awhile. Uggs, huh?
Boy you are ambitious with the roasting of tomatoes and all.
I may rent Milk or Rachel Gets Married today (if the next disc of The Wire is out).
