Are You Ready For Some Football?

It's football time again! Yahoo! A lot less drama this year compared to last, that's for sure. This season will be extra special at Fartwood Manor since we finally joined the 21st century and got an HDTV. I have to admit is pretty incredible for watching sports.
This season I have also joined a fantasy football league for the first time--that should be interesting. I'm not too sure how it works, but I hope I can figure it out before I get too far behind.
The little guy pictured above has graced the top of the tee-vee set every fall at my parents' house for something like 45 years. If there is anything like the "family jewels" in my family...this is it.
Imagine my delight when I spotted these shoes in the window of the Vans store! I had to have them. The weird thing is that even though I've lived in SoCal for 29 years...this is my first pair of Vans.

GO PACK GO!

Today begins a new season and a new era for the Green Bay Packers. A blank page. What will be written over the coming season remains to be seen--my only hope is that more good things than bad things will be written by the time the season is over.
The team has undergone a tremendous sea change since last season--a few veterans remain, sprinkled amongst many new faces. A time of learning and adjustment for player and fan alike.
Go Pack Go!

This interesting story was in today's JSOnline. A puff piece, some good PR spin, or the real deal.....I don't know. But I liked it.

Catharsis

Since Favre's trade is a done deal, I decided to do a little housekeeping in my cube at work. The Prilosec ad was from a while ago, and I originally started with the "I Quit" sticky note on 3/4/2008. During the last month or so, I and my co-workers have been adding sticky notes as the drama unfolded.
I replaced my Favre-centric stuff with the "power of cheese" poster I got at the SuperBowl XXXII in SanDiego. The toughest thing I have to replace is my spiral-bound Favre notebook. It's full of work notes from the last ten years. Either I transcribe it (which I really should do) or just paste another picture onto the cover.

Maybe It's Just Me...

...but would YOU have confidence in this guy to lead your team? I know, I know....don't judge a book by the cover, it's the off-season, blah, blah, blah....but seriously... look at this picture. Maybe if I was in the market to buy some drugs or wanted a web page designed, this might be the guy I would look for. But an NFL QB? For the Packers? I'm just sayin'...
I'm going to overlook the surfer-dude looks and still keep my mind open until I see him in action.
So anyway, the Packers' season schedule was announced today. Only one game in CA, and that's a preseason against the Niners. Other than that, the closest game would be Seattle. Which is cool, cuz I like Seattle. And I can pretend that I'm visiting from Wisconsin, so I don't get any attitude from the locals.
