My Cool Ornaments

I'm the lucky owner of some Steinbach ornaments. They are hand-made wooden ornaments from Germany. Most of them I received as gifts from my Aunt Nancy. She told me she would get them at Marshall Field's where there was a yearly "special sale" or something. I really like them. I never had an Xmas tree as an adult until (I think) 1998--so I would just set them out on a table or desk each year to enjoy them.
Santa has a little cloth pack of toys on his back.

I got the baker ornament in Heidelberg. I also got a nutcracker for my dad there.

Maryruth - I know these nutcrackers well...my 94 yr old grandmother has a showcase full of them, but don't kow about the ornament type, just know about the nutcrackers. She passed away in June but as a memory of her we set some out with other decorations that she had handmade. Let's talk, ok?

I have some very similar ornaments, purchased way back in 1979 when I lived in Madison, Wis.

Klrtbrat: what a wonderful way to remember your Grandmother. That's what "heirlooms" are all about.
I don't know much about this stuff, other than I have some!
Mimi: It is nice to pull out all the old ornaments and reminisce on where and how they were acquired.
