Party Food Trial #1

Next month I'm co-hosting a bridal shower for my niece and I've been busy collecting recipes and making lists in preparation. The party will take place in Wisconsin, so I have to be EXTRA prepared, I don't want anything left to chance.
I figured I should make a trial run of some of the new recipes before hand, so I don't have any surprises on party day.
These Proscuitto and Gruyere Pinwheels are awesome! I think this is going to be a new party food at Fartwood Manor too. They are extremely easy to make, but look and taste like you spent a lot of time doing them. All you do is layer frozen puff pastry dough with proscuitto and gruyere and roll it up, slice and bake. I forgot to add the chopped sage leaves and it was totally fine without.
A glass of wine with a few of these=easy, instant cocktail party.

Sounds super easy! Did you assemble, slice/bake right away? Can you assemble, put back in fridge for a day or two and then "slice/bake" to order? If so, another thing you can do ahead for the shower.

The sage sounds wonderful, too. How about fresh thyme? mmmmmmm

Personal note: I would definitely stick with a ham with a low moisture content, like the yummy proscuitto, as other juicier hams might get the puff pastry too wet and the pastry might not bake up correctly.

Sheila--it is all do-ahead. Make the rolls up to three days ahead, then slice and bake when you need them. Yeah, I was really hoping these would taste good since they are perfect do-ahead things.
Thanks again for a great SuperBowl party. Everything was really tasty--I loved the red devil cupcakes!

Mary! I am extra excited now. I was just looking forward to seeing you again, but all this excellent food talk reminds me how awesome your cooking skills are-I can't wait until the shower. Love, your sis

Hi Andi! I'm getting excited too, plus a little nervous. I'll send you an email soon with some questions I have.
These pinwheels are right up your alley.
